Carter's First Soccer Game

Today was Carter's first soccer game. It was so much fun to watch him! He had a blast!! (Except he did have a minor-ha!- meltdown in the middle. He was quite upset that he couldn't kick the ball. He finally figured out that if he wanted to kick the ball, he had to actually run after it. Who would have thought?! He also wanted to use his ball and not the team ball.)

They start with a 30 minute practice. Every kid has a ball for this part, so I think he got a little confused when they took away all but one ball. They practice doing soccer moves, but they have adorable little names for everything. The ball is called "Bob" or "Bobcat". In the picture below Carter is "stopping Bob". They also do this cute penguin waddle to dribble the ball. He LOVED it! (He does the practice part at his school one day a week also.)

During the practice part, Carter would turn around and wave at us and yell "Hi!!" It was so cute.

He's wearing his soccer wrist band that Lexie got him.

This morning on the way to the game I asked Carter if he was going to run fast. He replied in a very serious tone, "NO, I am going to run slow so I don't get hurt. I will kick the ball fast, but I will run slow."
Well that might have been his plan, but he did actually run fast.
I can't wait until next Saturday!

Masquerade

A couple of weekends ago Lexie was in the Masquerade Dance Competition. She did 4 routines with her competitive team (lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, and jazz) and 1 solo (hip hop). I love to watch her dance. She is definitely one of those artsy creative types. When she is singing, dancing, or acting, she is in her element. She does everything I always wanted to do but was too shy to try. I am so proud of her!!

Jazz outfit- I loved this routine. It was to a song from the movie "The Lost Boys." I love it when they dance to rock songs instead of the traditional jazzy type music.

The white fluff means she was one of the good guys-ha!

I was a total loser mom. They posted a sign that said you can't take any pictures or videos or else the dancer(s) will be disqualified. Well, silly me didn't take any pics of her outside of the auditorium in her other outfits until the last dance. I did cheat though and pulled the pics up online and did a screen shot with my phone. So ignore the border with the low battery symbol :)

The contemporary outfit.

Hip Hop Solo-- This is Lexie's genre! She loves hip hop and it's obvious when she dances. It is also my favorite genre to watch. Some people don't realize how hard it really is because it looks like street dancing, but it really is much harder and more technical than it looks.
