9/11

I have started my post about our vacation to New York City, but I have not finished. I thought today would be an appropriate day to share a few pictures from one special spot though, the 9/11 Memorial.

I remember 9-11-01 like it was yesterday, and in many ways it seems like it has been a very short time since then. Before visiting the site, I expected to be able to see the debris and clean up process. Then when I got there and saw this huge building and the plans for the memorial, it hit me that it has been 10 years. 10 years.... wow!

Most of the area was fenced off due to construction, but we could peek through at some places, and it was pretty amazing and surreal. We did get to visit a 9/11 museum next to the site that was very cool. I can say that after being there and talking to people that lived through this tragedy, not just hearing their stories on TV but actually talking to them, I feel even more connected to this part of history. It became more real.

Here are a few pictures of the construction site. (The pictures don't do it justice.)
